The Gahanna American Legion meets regularly at the VFW Post at 75 West Johnstown Road, at 7:00pm every 3d Thursday of the month. Visitors are welcome, and we welcome all veterans or active duty members to come to any or all of our meetings. We invite all veterans to join theGahanna American Legion to assist us in our service to the community and it's youth.
The Legion sponsors annually two American Legion Baseball teams and Boys are sponsored to Buckeye Boys State each year, and the program is growing. The Ladies Auxiliary Unit sponsors local girls to Buckeye Girls State each year, and welcomes any business locally who would like to help sponsor these Girls. We always have more than funding allows, but local businesses can change that by picking up a sponsorship for either Boys or Girls. The fee is presently $300 for each boy/girl sponsored.
We thank those businesses and individuals who help in our sponsorships and greatly appreciate all you do for our projects. The Legion also sponsors an Oratorical Contest each year, and that is underway at this time. Local schools are asked to contact our Americanism Officer using our web site and clicking on the menu links to the appropriate page.
Please be advised that the old web site of a year ago is no longer valid, and you should use the following site to see what the Gahanna Legion is doing in the community: http://www.al797.org. If you are a veteran who needs assistance, or the spouse of a veteran needing assistance, please use our web site to contact us. Anyone who wishes to do so can sign up to receive the Post newsletter monthly. Just complete the form on the web site home page and you are automatically enrolled to receive it.
Also be advidsed that the Gahanna American Legion is now a member of Ormita, a company that accepts In-Kind donations from around the world, and anyone having useable items to donate can do so thru this Post and receive credit for their tax-deductible donations at a far better rate than just donating the merchandise helter-skelter. If you are, or think you may be intereested in talking about this, please email site@al797.org and someone from either the Post or Ormita will contact you.
